So I’ve been thinking about making some cute herb pot planters for my fresh herbs for some time now.
Seriously I just love using fresh herbs when I cook! I love most fresh herbs, but my favorites definitely have to be basil and cilantro. Can you really cook either Italian or Asian food without these herbs?! The flavor and the fragrance fresh herbs ads to your food, you just DON’T get that using dried herbs or spices.
I always have to have some fresh herbs on my kitchen counters. They just give my kitchen that fresh, but homey kitchen feel. Delicious used in cooking, but also gives the kitchen that little extra green decor element.
All this talking about food is making me hungry! Time to get back to the project!
Have a look at how I made these cute and easy herb pot planters with painted chalkboard labels!
How to Make herb pot planters with chalkboard labels
What you’ll need:
- White plain planter pots
- Paintbrushes
- Masking tape
- Chalkboard paint
- Measuring tape
How to make it:
Firstly you want to start with measuring how big you want your chalkboard labels to be.

Then you’ll want to attach the masking tape around the edges of where you want to paint your label.
Get your chalkboard paint and paint evenly inside the square you’ve made with the masking tape.

Now make sure to let the first layer dry, then paint a second layer.
Let the paint dry completely, and then gently peel off the masking tape.

And there you have your DIY Herb Pot Planters!
Even though the edges on the painted labels didn’t come out all perfectly straight, I love how this project turned out. Not being all picture perfect, that’s truly the charm of a DIY project.
